A few weeks ago, Barça announced that they had acquired the soccer team from the Chico State University (CSU) soccer program and named the team the Chesapeake Soccer Club.
Now, the team is moving to an entirely new home in downtown Boston.
The team will be the first non-college soccer team in the United States to play in the newly renovated TD Garden, home of the Boston Celtics.
The first team to play there will be called the Cheshaunas Boston Red Sox, after a team that was the original name of the team that played at Fenway Park in Boston, from 1995-99.
The new team will play its first home game on April 15.
The Chesapeake is a brand name of Chesapeake Energy, a natural gas company based in Chesapeake, Virginia.
The Boston Red Wings were the first professional team to use the name Chesapeake as a logo.
They moved to the United Center in 2013 and won the Stanley Cup in 2016.
The Red Sox named their first game at Fenwick Park, which is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the “Bonds at Fenwall.”
The new stadium is scheduled to open in 2019.
Barça also announced that the team will open its inaugural season in 2018.
Here’s what the Boston Red Bulls have to say about the move: “The Boston Red Bull Salzburg FC has signed a new agreement with Chesapeake FC to play its home games in TD Garden in Boston.
This is an exciting opportunity for us to continue the growth of our soccer program, as well as the development of a strong relationship with Cheschenga FC.
We look forward to welcoming the team to Boston in 2018 and providing the best possible experience for our supporters.
We are excited to bring a new team to Fenway, a great soccer venue that is home to the Boston Bruins and Boston Red Hawks.
We will also have new partnerships with other teams in Boston that will further our reach in the Greater Boston area.
Our fans will be able to watch our team play, and we are excited about the fans and the fans coming to Fenwicks first game.”
