— Flathead soccer team announced on Tuesday it will be adding a soccer team in its first season, as it strives to become a full-fledged professional soccer club.
The Flathead Sporting Club will be called the Flathead Warriors, and will play in a 4,000-seat stadium at a site the team is leasing.
It will also include a team practice facility, a locker room and an administrative office, according to a press release.
Flathead Soccer is part of the Flatheads professional soccer league, which has played since 2011.
The team will begin play in 2019.
The team will play a home match against the Flatwoods High School Pioneers on Sept. 13.
It is the second soccer team Flathead has created since 2011, after it signed a partnership with the Flatnesfield High School Stars.
The sports team’s owner, Mark K. Lassiter, is the former chairman of the American Soccer League’s St. Louis Soccer Club.
He founded the Flattowns High School Football Club in 2005.
