A little known soccer club in Punjab has emerged as a potential national team member for the 2019 World Cup.
The Punjab Football Association (PFA) and Punjab Football League (PFL) had announced the signing of four players to play for the PFA.
The PFA has also signed two players for the Bundesliga’s top tier, but the details are yet to be announced.
The five-time FIFA World Player of the Year, Sergio Aguero, played for the Spanish Premier League side Barcelona between 2003 and 2006 and the Argentine has been in the Premier League since 2007.
Aguero has been a key figure in the PFL’s rise in the first division and is a member of its coaching staff.
He joined the PSA in May 2018, just one month after being released from his contract with the Spanish club.
In the next four years, the PPA has signed players like Diego Lopez and Cristian Maidana, and is hoping to make its debut for the World Cup with a third consecutive World Cup qualifying campaign.
The 2019 World Club Soccer (WCS) competition is scheduled to take place in France from June 8-13.
